Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate (f/m/d)

Neuroinflammation Research

Fulltime and initially limited to 2 years

 

The successful candidate will use cutting-edge technologies to study the molecular mechanisms regulating neuroinflammation and to design novel drug discovery projects targeting modulation of microglia function in a fully funded research project. You will benefit from a state-of-the-art research environment and a dynamic, multinational, and multidisciplinary team. You will actively lead 1-2 research projects, ultimately contributing to collaborative drug discovery campaigns using human glial cells, within EVOTEC.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead 1-2 research projects (design and execute experimental work, analyze data, …)

  • Develop and implement novel microglia Your „hands-on“ wet-lab work is required.

  • Collaborate with our hiPSC team, disease biology and drug discovery teams.

  • Provide general scientific expertise about glia biology to other group members.

  • Accurately and timely deliver documents, technical reports and presentations.

  • Present your work at internal and international meetings.

  • Publish your work in peer-reviewed journals when applicable.

 

Your qualifications

  • PhD in Life Science (obtained no longer than 2 years ago) or PhD candidates who anticipate completion of their PhD thesis within the next 3 months, with a strong background in glia cell biology, neuroinflammation and a broad knowledge of CNS diseases.

  • Hands-on experience as well as proven track record in (micro)glia biology is required.

  • Extensive experience in various laboratory techniques (cell culture, FACS, imaging, immunoassays, RT PCR, Imaging …) is desired.

  • You are a team worker: collaborative, helpful and reliable.

  • Excellent communication, networking and presentation skills in English are a must.

  • Experience in managing and mentoring is a strong plus.
